Pastor Terry Atkinson's Message

Dear Friend,

It is my privilege to welcome you to the Brunswick Street Baptist Church web site. We are located in the downtown core of the beautiful city of Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. We are a traditional Church in the sense that as a fellowship of believers, we have sought to worship God and share the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ since 1814. God has blessed us and we have ample testimony to His faithfulness.

In the past the Holy Spirit has brought us revival, enabled us to be pioneers in missions and be innovative in Christian education.

The Rev. and Mrs. Richard Burpee were the first protestant missionaries from Canada. They were sent out in 1845 to serve in Burma.

In 1836 the Baptist Seminary was established next to the Church building to provide the first secondary level education for both sexes, and to people of all faiths, in Canada.

Our history has been a contribution to God's work in the Maritimes and Canada, for which we praise Him.

While we thank God for our history, we are here to serve Him in the present. We believe that 'Jesus is the same yesterday and today and forever' [ Hebrews 13.8 ]. We therefore seek to be disciples of Jesus today, within our families, our church and our community. We want Jesus to be Lord over us and all, and are committed to:

• worship God in Spirit and in Truth [ John 4.24 ]
• love one another in obedience to Christ [ John 13.34 ]
• pray for each other and the world [ Matthew 6.5 ]
• grow together to maturity in Christ [ John 15.5 ]
• witness to all by all means everywhere [ Matthew 28.19 ]
• serve the community in the name of Christ [ Matthew 5.16 ]

All of the programs and ministries of our Church are designed to fulfill these commitments. You are welcome to join them and be part of them, and may God bless you through them.
